Are you ready for another Lollapalooza? After a year off in 2020, Lolla returns to Grant Park on July 29–August 1 with a full house. Arena rockers Foo Fighters (Sunday), rapper Post Malone (Saturday), hip-hop artist Tyler, the Creator (Friday), and pop singer Miley Cyrus are among the headliners this year (Thursday). Other major names on the bill include costumed EDM musician Marshmello, creator of “Hot Girl Summer” Meghan Thee Stallion, karaoke bar staples Journey, prolific emcee Young Thug, and—inexplicably—nu-metal outfit Limp Bizkit.
There’s a lot to go through with over 150 musicians on the bill, however, there aren’t many surprises if you’ve been following roster announcements from other U.S. music festivals. Marc Ribellet (a.k.a. Loop Daddy), Chicago folk-rockers Whitney, masked country crooner Orville Peck, rapper/soup-thrower Princess Nokia, and local retro rockers Rookie are among the notable inclusions.
While there are several EDM acts on the bill (including Illennium, Steve Aoki, and Jauz), Lolla 2021 is hip-year. hop’s Roddy Richh, Dababy, Brockhampton, Playboi Carti, Polo G, Trippie Redd, Freddie Gibbs, Rico Nasty, Flo Milli, and Mick Jenkins are among the emcees set to perform at Lollapalooza this year.
The Lollapalooza website sells four-day passes and single-day tickets. Just be aware that as more tickets are sold and the festival approaches, Lolla is increasing prices—a disclaimer on their ticketing page states, “Prices are subject to increase without notice.”
