According to Priceline, this is the most popular Fourth of July travel destination in the USA

The most popular Fourth of July travel destinations in the USA: This year’s Fourth of July holiday weekend is predicted to witness a spike in travel, with big cities enjoying an increase in popularity. Travellers could expect to pay much more than they did in 2021, according to data given by travel booking website Priceline.

According to the website, typical hotel rates are 18 percent higher on July 4 than they were last year at the same time. Domestic roundtrip airfare has also increased by 32% since 2021.

“This summer, we’re seeing the return of the large city,” Kevin Heery, Priceline’s chief product officer, told  “After two years of beach and coastal destinations leading the most popular lists, this summer we’re seeing the return of the big metropolis.” “Travelers are eager to return to major destinations like Las Vegas, Chicago, and New York to sample the culture, entertainment, and food that these larger cities have to offer.”

The most popular holiday weekend destination was Las Vegas, which was also one of the most affordable, with hotel rooms averaging only $172 per night. Then came New Orleans, which came in second place in terms of popularity. Hotel rooms are a little more expensive there, with an average nightly charge of $390.

Orlando, which is one of the most popular summer tourism destinations due to its numerous amusement parks and freshwater lakes ideal for cooling down, came in third on the list. Over the holiday weekend, hotel accommodations in Orlando average $213 per night.

The next most popular cities were Chicago and New York, with average nightly hotel costs of $249 and $263, respectively.

While Las Vegas is one of the most cost-effective places to travel for the holiday weekend, there are plenty of other fantastic spots to visit across the country that are even more cost-effective. According to Priceline, Dallas was the most economical July 4 destination, with overnight hotel rates as low as $133.

Following that came Houston, Texas, where nightly hotel rates average $135, and Charlotte, North Carolina, where nightly hotel rates average $148.

When it came to foreign travel (which has been easier since the United States lifted pre-arrival testing requirements), Europe reached its peak, with London being the most popular destination. Paris, Rome, and Barcelona were the next cities on the list. Finally, Montreal was ranked fifth on the list.
