Comedy Legend Gilbert Gottfried Dead At 67
Gilbert Gottfried, a former cast member of NBC's Saturday Night Live and the voice of the sarcastic parrot in the animated Disney film Aladdin, has suffered a long, unspecified illness.
Gilbert Gottfried was a stand-up comic with a hoarse voice and a penchant for pushing the boundaries with jokes about the September 11 attacks and the Japanese tsunami.
"In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend, and father to their two young children."
“Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor.”
His style of humor landed him a lucrative role as Aflac Duck in television commercials for the insurer.
His numerous roles in film and television include voicing the parrot Iago in the Aladdin animated films and series.
Of course, Gilbert did plenty of voice work too, voicing Iago in "Aladdin" and the Aflac Duck in the early 2000s.
