AN OVERVIEW OF THE AREA

If you are unfamiliar with the Polish language, as we are, a lot of Polish names seem complicated and impossible to pronounce.

3
PARKING IN ZAKOPANE

The trail to Koscielec is located near the cable car station for Kasprowy Wierch (Kolej linowa Kasprowy Wierch on Google Maps).

4
THE TRAILHEAD

There are several paths that lead into the mountains near the cable car station.

5
HIKING TO MUROWANIEC

Sometimes the forest opens up and you get to see meadows, wild flowers and a few mountain huts.

6
HIKING TO CZARNY STAW

Czarni Staw is an emerald green, alpine lake located high in the mountains. To reach here from the valley of Dolina Gasiennikova.

7
HIKE UP MALY KOSCIELEC

If you want to proceed towards Kosilek, you will have to take the path on the right. A short but very steep climb awaits you at the curb.

8
HIKING KOSCIELEC

Viewed from below it looks like a steep, tiring climb to the top. This is basically a climb up to the summit of Maly Kosilek via the curb on steroids.

9
ALTERNATE ENDING TO THE HIKE

From Dolina Gasienicowa, you can hike the yellow trail for one hour to Kasprowy Wierch

ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE

I read that the Tatras were an off-the-beaten-path hiking destination in Europe. Well, it sure didn’t feel that way.
