A huge explosion shook an agrochemical plant in Ezeiza, Argentina, on Friday night, and the blast was so powerful that people miles away felt their homes shake.
It’s one of those moments you never forget because it feels like the ground itself is exploding beneath you.
Residents say the noise was so loud it sounded like the sky cracked open.
The shockwave traveled almost 4 kilometers, hitting nearby towns like Spegazzini, Monte Grande, San Vicente, Tristán Suárez and Virrey del Pino.

People rushed out of their homes, confused, scared and unsure of what had just happened.
I watched several videos shared online, and honestly, they’re terrifying.
First, you see flames shooting up, then a massive blast, followed by a thick black cloud rising higher and higher.
Firefighters rushed to the scene immediately, but reports say the fire was still out of control for hours.

What makes this tragedy even worse is that the explosion caused damage to houses nearby.
People reported:
- Windows shattered
- Walls cracked
- Doors blown open
- Some residents were even burned by the fire
At least 20 people are believed to be injured, though officials have not yet confirmed the exact number.
When you see the scale of the blast, it’s heartbreaking to imagine what those people went through.
Authorities later confirmed the factory wasn’t a paint plant, as first reported, but an agrochemical producer at the center of Ezeiza’s industrial park. And because chemicals were involved, things got even scarier.
A red alert was issued for several areas due to a possible toxic cloud drifting from the scene.
Right now, experts are trying to figure out what caused the explosion. Was it a technical failure? A chemical reaction? Something worse? No one knows yet, and officials still haven’t given a formal statement.
