Exciting news for travelers heading to Mexico: Alaska Airlines is adding new routes from Los Angeles to several Mexican destinations, including the increasingly popular La Paz.
Expanded Winter Service
Starting November 20, Alaska Airlines will offer flights up to three times a week to La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur. Additionally, beginning February 13, 2025, the airline will launch daily nonstop service to Monterrey, Mexico’s second-largest metropolitan area.
Year-Round Service
Both routes will be served year-round using Alaska’s E175 aircraft, which features a 1-2 configuration in business class and a 2-2 configuration in economy. Tickets for these new routes became available on Alaska’s website starting July 3.
Celebrating 35 Years in Mexico
“We recently celebrated 35 years of service to Mexico and are proud to connect travelers with the rich culture and natural beauty of the country,” said Kristin Amrine, Alaska’s vice president of revenue management and network planning. “We look forward to continuing to serve as the carrier of choice from the West Coast, especially as we prepare to start service to these popular destinations in Mexico.”

Unique Nonstop Service
As the only airline offering nonstop routes to La Paz and Monterrey from Los Angeles, these additions underscore Alaska’s commitment and growth plans in the region. The airline already operates nonstop service to other Mexican destinations, including Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Guadalajara, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Loreto, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, and Manzanillo.
Enhancing Connectivity
Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, highlighted the importance of these new routes: “Through LAX, this new route will offer access to new destinations on the West Coast, as we continue to increase international connectivity from Monterrey to meet both business and leisure travel demand.”
Broader Central American Connections
In addition to Mexico, Alaska Airlines serves several other Central American destinations from its Los Angeles hub, including Belize and Guatemala, further expanding travel options for passengers.
Summary
With these new routes, Alaska Airlines is making it easier for travelers to explore Mexico’s vibrant destinations. Whether you’re planning a beach getaway to La Paz or a cultural trip to Monterrey, Alaska’s expanded service has you covered? Safe travels!
