1. Join the 48th Annual MLK Day Parade

One of the country’s oldest and largest MLK Day parades takes place in Liberty City, tracing the same eight-mile route Dr. King frequently traveled in Miami.

Featuring high school marching bands, dancers, cheerleaders, and community leaders, this parade draws more than 500,000 attendees annually.

When: January 20, starting at 11 a.m.

2. Kick Off with the MLK 5K Run & Fitness Walk

Hosted by the Progressive Officers Club, Inc., this annual 5K is Miami-Dade’s longest-running MLK Day race.

Proceeds benefit the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project, promoting education and mentorship.

When: January 20, 8 a.m. (Registration begins at 6:30 a.m.)

3. Visit a National Park for a Free

Celebrate MLK Day by exploring natural wonders at no cost! National Park Service sites, including the Everglades and Dry Tortugas, waive entrance fees to honor Dr. King’s birthday.
